OneVoice’s album Higher Love was recently reviewed by RARB, The Recorded A Cappella Review Board, a worldwide nonprofit that gives professional feedback on all a cappella albums. The ratings are done on a 5 point scale, with 1 being the lowest and 5 being the highest. Albums are not scaled based on age; rather, all albums are scored evenly. A professional adult’s album would be considered in the same way a high school group’s would.
For an unprecedented second year in a row, OneVoice’s album received a perfect 5/5 from RARB. Last year’s album, Starry Eyed, also received a 5/5. Here are some of the quotes from the reviewers:
“If we’re living in the golden age of a cappella, OneVoice will be studied years from now as a prime example of excellence in our genre.”
“J.D. Frizzell has built more than a remarkable program, he’s building an empire.”
“There are few scholastic groups whose work suggests the concept of craftsmanship better or more consistently than Briarcrest Christian High School’s OneVoice.”
“With more accolades in the past year than this reviewer can fit into this piece… Briarcrest OneVoice continues to be the gold standard in high school a cappella, and arguably, the a cappella community at large.”
