Briarcrest Christian School’s contemporary a cappella group OneVoice announces the release of their latest album, Starry Eyed. CD’s will be available for purchase at their Album Release Concert on Saturday, May 9 at 7:00 PM in the Willard R. Sparks Chapel and Performing Arts Center, 76 S Houston Levee Rd., Eads, TN. Admission is free. The album may also be purchased online from iTunes or Loudr.
Starry Eyed continues OneVoice’s groundbreaking approach to contemporary a cappella recording. Building on the success of last year’s award winning album Drive All Night, Starry Eyed is another concept album in which a subtle narrative guides the musical and emotional arc of the songs in order.
“As many popular music groups are focusing on releasing singles, we made a conscious decision to invest in the full album experience,” says OneVoice director and Starry Eyed producer J.D. Frizzell. “We want to take the listener on a cohesive journey.”
“With Starry Eyed, JD Frizzell and Co-Producer Robert Dietz have compiled a collection of songs compiled that work together in harmony to collectively showcase what makes OneVoice unique and special. From contemporary pop to jazzy soul, the album truly has something for everyone to enjoy.”
OneVoice’s previous albums have been received with critical acclaim from the a cappella community. Their first album, Another Level, was hailed as “One of the best high school albums of all time…a wonderful recording achievement” by the Recorded A Cappella Review Board (RARB). RARB called their second album Here To Stay “nothing short of extraordinary”. Naming it as one of 11 “Picks of the Year” in the entire world of scholastic and professional a cappella in 2014, RARB described recent release Drive All Night as “high school a cappella at state of the art levels.” It was included on the SING and Best of High School A Cappella compilations and won Contemporary A Cappella Recording Awards for Best High School Song (Hannah Gray-Gravity) and Best High School Album.
The Album Release Concert’s opening act will be Key of She from White Station High School. Key of She is in its first year as the premiere female a cappella group of White Station High School. This twelve member group is composed of students from all grades and specializes in contemporary music ranging from pop to jazz to rock. Key of She was recently recognized as one of four high school finalists in the A Cappella Education Association’s National A Cappella Convention, where they took home the Outstanding Female Soloist award. Key of She can be seen performing at White Station High choir concerts and around the Memphis area.
